Mwaura (Driver) pleaded guilty and was released on a cash bail of Sh40, 000 or serve a jail term of six months on each account.

The tout, Justus Momanyi, was also charged with three accounts: failing to wear uniform, acting as a conductor without a conductor’s Public Service Vehicle (PSV) badge and allowing excess passengers in the bus

He too pleaded guilty and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 30,000.

Also appearing before Principal Magistrate Evans Keago was an 18 year-old girl, a Form Four student from Kanyama Secondary who was found with rolls of bhang in her private parts.

She pleaded guilty for being in possession of narcotics.

Christopher Mugambi, the principal of Kanyama Secondary school urged the local administration to ensure that students board the right matatus to their homes after they close schools.

Following the scandal, the school management board has ruled that parents must pick up their children when schools close.

Mugambi added that those found in the bus will face disciplinary action as soon they open school in September.

A victim of circumstances

One of the students who had boarded the bus said that she is a victim of circumstances.

The Form Four student expressed that she bordered the bus at Karatina Town together with her colleagues after paying Kh 500.

She maintained that she never had narcotics, adding that her only interest was traveling home.

Her mother, who was angered and shocked when she received the news, went to pick her daughter Thursday from the school. She said that her daughter was obedient and well-mannered.However, she pleaded with the relevant authorities in the Ministry of Education to offer counseling to all students affected.

She also asked those investigating the matter to be fair to the students who have been caught.


The 41 students were picked up by their respective school heads and they spent the night in their schools before they were picked up by their parents Thursday morning.The students are from: Kanyama Secondary, Mukurwe-ini Boys, Kaheti High, Kibirigwi Girls and Kanjuri Boys schools.

Meanwhile, the bus that was impounded Wednesday still lies at the Sagana Patrol Base.

SHOCKING!: Man Looses Private parts over hyena ATTACK!

A man in Wajir is fighting for his life at Ladnaan Hospital after a hyena attacked him and bit off both his thumbs, private parts and bruised his hands and face.

According to the doctor attending to Mohamud  Abdi Barrow, 22, the victim is in a stable condition but needs urgent specialized treatment.

Speaking to the press at his office, the head of Kenya Wild Life Service (KWS) in Wajir Mohamed Madera said that Barrow was attacked by the hyena while he was asleep next to his goats in Bojiyarey, Wajir North.

Madera said that Barrow was guarding the goats after the hyena had struck the previous nights and killed some livestock in the area.

He could not, however, answer to claims that the hyena was now singling out humans considering that it did not attack any goat next to the victim and it did not touch any carcass that had been laced with poison meant to trap it.

The KWS boss added that the family of the victim and other livestock owners who have borne the brunt of wild animal attacks will be compensated once investigations are completed.

Wajir County is amongst the driest parts of the country where due to drought, human and wild life conflicts are at the highest as they both search for food and water.
